Come connect and reconnect with fellow WIN members at this month’s virtual happy hour where our featured speaker, Jennifer Mermel, will discuss how to build a career in finance. She will share her views on how to differentiate yourself from your peers, accelerate your level of responsibility, create a positive work community, and find or become a mentor. She will also speak on how to navigate the new hybrid work environment.
Jennifer Mermel is Chief Operating Officer of BTIG, a global financial services firm specializing in institutional trading, investment banking, research and related brokerage services. Most recently Ms. Mermel was responsible for the firm’s COVID-19 response, shifting the firm to remote operations, developing a safety plan and ultimately the return to office strategy. Jennifer ensures that BTIG has optimal operational controls, administrative procedures, reporting capabilities and systems as well as the right leaders in place to effectively foster growth, financial strength and operating resiliency. Previously, she was the Chief of Staff of BTIG, managing the firm’s Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Market Data and Real Estate teams, and coordinating philanthropic giving.
Ms. Mermel is also a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Global Operating Committee and ADP Governance Committee. She is directly responsible for some of BTIG’s largest contract negotiations, including healthcare, leasing and market data. Ms. Mermel works closely with the firm’s strategic partners to improve operating efficiencies and is a founding member of BTIG. She was instrumental in launching BTIG’s European and Asia-Pacific international affiliate entities as well as Bass Trading, a predecessor firm. Earlier in her career, Ms. Mermel was a Vice President on the Program Trading desk at Goldman Sachs, subsequent to their purchase of Spear, Leeds and Kellogg. She earned a BA in history from the College of Holy Cross, and an MA in international political economy and development from Fordham University. Ms. Mermel resides in New York City with her husband and 2 children.
